Scanning & verifying codes
Scanning codes - in-line code scanning systems for manufacturing
Code scanners for lasered, needled or printed codes on various surfaces.
Code validation systems for in-line rating of codes.
Code verification according to AIM/DPM or ISO 15415.
Scanning and verifying 2D and 1D codes in manufacturing
At the moment different procedures like laser labeling, needling or printing are used to affix 2D codes on products and components in order to track and identify them. In general this is called DPM (Direct Part Marking). To ensure the quality and readability of - in particular - 2D bar-codes different standards are applied, e.g. AIM/DPM or ISO/IEC, which define partly different quality features to rate the codes. AIM/DPM aims for directly marked bar-codes, while ISO/IEC 15415 covers printed 2D Codes.
Bar-code scanners by Cognex distinguish themselves with a high flexibility, a simple set-up and an easy installation and are the perfect solution, even for very sophisticated fields of application in the industry. The robust, high-performance, portable bar-code scanners are the perfect solution for the toughest manufacturing and logistic environments.
The image-based bar-code scanners by Cognex and Microscan enable us to offer you a fully configured camera solution to scan, verify and validate 2D codes at your production site. A bar-code check can be defined as the process to rate the quality of 1D, 2D and DPM codes (Direct Part Mark). An increasing number of regulated industries request a verification of bar-codes. In this context, verification is a detailed check of the code quality against a defined standard, which is often carried out offline with a camera and lighting set-up defined by a standard committee. The bar-code verification devices by Cognex use high-value optics, cutting-edge algorithms and simple software to proof conformity with the industry standards. The validation systems makes it possible to rate the quality of directly marked codes during high-speed productions and errors or deviating quality features in the labeling can be detected in due time.
